What should I wear?

It’s fall in Wisconsin, so the weather could be 75° and sunny, 45° and freezing, or somehow both in the same afternoon. Our ceremony and dancing will be outside, so dress nice—but dress for the weather! Layers are your friend, comfortable shoes are highly encouraged, and checking the forecast before you leave is probably your best bet. Think wedding cute with Wisconsin weather survival skills.

Will there be drinks?

Yes. Of course there will be alcohol—we’re planning a wedding, not a business meeting. The Bride and Groom will be covering drinks during cocktail hour, so enjoy responsibly while we’re feeling generous! But don’t get too carried away—we know how some of you like to drink, and we still need you functioning for dinner and dancing. After cocktail hour, you’re on your own. The bar will still be open, but your wallet will need to join the party. Please bring cash and/or a card to purchase drinks for the rest of the night.

What if it rains?

Then it rains. The wedding will go on! We’re not letting a little Wisconsin weather ruin the party. If Mother Nature decides to crash the wedding, the ceremony will move upstairs inside the venue, and dancing will move indoors as well. So don’t panic, don’t start checking the radar every five minutes, and definitely don’t send the Bride weather updates—we have a backup plan. Rain or shine, we’re getting married and you’re dancing!

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes. Plenty of it. We promise we did not invite you to a wedding and then expect you to circle the block for 45 minutes fighting over one parking spot. There is plenty of parking available right at the venue, so park the car, head inside, and save your stress for figuring out what you’re going to say when you pick up the phone for the audio guest book.

Can I take pictures during the ceremony

We kindly ask that you put the phones away during the ceremony. We spent way too much money on a professional photographer for your blurry iPhone photo from row six to become the main event. Be present, enjoy the moment, laugh, cry, and actually watch us get married with your own two eyes. We promise there will be plenty of professionally taken photos afterward. Once the ceremony is over, feel free to take all the pictures your camera roll can handle.

Will the ceremony and reception be at the same location?

Yes! Everything is happening in one location. No need to leave the ceremony and start a wedding-day scavenger hunt trying to find the reception. Once you arrive, you’re there for the night—ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and all the questionable dance moves that come with it.

Is there a hotel block?

Yes! We have a room block reserved at the Cobblestone Hotel for our guests. Please call the hotel directly to make your reservation and mention the wedding room block so you don’t accidentally end up paying more than you need to. All of the hotel details can be found under the Travel tab on our website.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Nope. Absolutely not. Please do not be the reason we get kicked out of our own wedding venue. The bar will have plenty to keep you hydrated in the fun way, so leave the personal stash at home and purchase your drinks from the venue.

Will there be food?

Yes. You will not go hungry. We’re asking you to spend the day celebrating with us, not survive on cake and alcohol alone. There will be plenty of food to keep everyone fed and fueled for dancing, drinking, and making questionable decisions on the dance floor.

Is there transportation available?

Please be responsible—we like you and would prefer everyone make it home safely. We will have Uber vouchers available for the night, but keep in mind we’re getting married out in the Wisconsin countryside. Uber drivers aren’t exactly lined up around the corner waiting for us, so your ride may take a little while to arrive. Plan ahead, be patient, and please don’t wait until you’re three drinks past “I should probably go home” to request your ride.

Where are you registered?

We do have a few items listed under the Registry tab, but after living together for this long, we’ve somehow managed to collect most of the essentials. If you’d still like to give us something, money is always a wonderful option and will definitely be put to good use. We don’t have a honeymoon planned yet, but we would love to take a trip somewhere after the wedding—so contributions toward our future adventure are always appreciated!

Can I request a song?

There was a spot on your RSVP to request a song, so hopefully you took advantage of it. Once the party starts, try not to be that guest who spends the entire night interrupting the DJ every five minutes asking, “Can you play my song next?” Trust the DJ, hit the dance floor, and remember—we gave you your chance.

Do I really have to RSVP by the deadline?

Yes. That’s kind of the whole point of a deadline. We need to tell the venue how many people we’re feeding and how many humans we’re financially responsible for that day. If you don’t RSVP by the deadline, please don’t make us track you down like a missing person. We love you, but we do not want to spend the weeks before our wedding sending increasingly aggressive texts that go from: “Hey! Just checking on your RSVP 😊” to “ARE. YOU. COMING.” So do us a favor and send in your RSVP on time. It’s cheaper than therapy for the bride.
